GUWAHATI, Nov 12: The Assam Sahitya Sabha today finalised a list of five eminent litterateurs who would be vying for the post of president of the apex literary body of the State for the 2025-27 term.
The five candidates, whose consent was taken before making the list public, are Basanta Kumar Goswami, Dr Gobinda Prasad Sarma, Upen Rabha Hakacham, Bhim Kanta Barua and Anuradha Sarma Pujari.
The list was made public at a media briefing by chief electoral officer of Sabha’s election committee Prashant Kumar Deka who also announced nominations for other posts as well.
For the position of vice-president, the nominations of Bipin Chandra Kalita, Sahir Bhuyan and Padum Rajkhowa have been found to be valid while Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Ajit Prasad Sharma and Debojit Borah will battle it out for the general secretary’s post in the upcoming elections of the Assam Sahitya Sabha.
