GUWAHATI, Nov 4: Assam Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party’s Jharkhand co-in-charge Himanta Biswa Sarma has accused the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) of “supporting infiltrators” in Jharkhand. Sarma criticised the JMM’s stand of “supporting infiltrators”, suggesting that the registration of political parties supporting such views should be cancelled.
Sarma said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon visit the Santhal Pargana region to attend two important events ahead of the Jharkhand assembly election, where security and border concerns are expected to be the focal point.
Referring to a complaint filed against him by the opposition India Bloc, Sarma alleged that JMM’s support for “infiltrators” was contrary to national security interests. “The opposition has filed a complaint against me for condemning infiltrators. This shows that JMM is siding with them,” he said.
“Any party that supports infiltration or speaks against measures to deal with it should be deregistered,” he added.
Sarma urged JMM to agree with his stand on infiltration and warned them against repeating past mistakes.
“If I speak against infiltration, JMM should support me; otherwise, they risk being branded as a party of infiltrators. Their letter defending the interests of infiltrators seems like they are expressing concerns on which they themselves hesitate to speak,” he said.
