GUWAHATI, Nov 1: Assam Agriculture Minister and Bokakhat MLA Atul Bora today inaugurated the elephant safari at the Kaziranga National Park for the current tourist season.
Bora, also president of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), a constituent of the three-party ruling alliance, inaugurated the elephant safari at Mihimukh under Kohora range of the internationally-famous national park.
The inauguration event was attended by Sonali Ghosh, Field Director of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve; Shri Arun Vignesh, Divisional Forest Officer; prominent social worker Animesh Saikia; distinguished guests and officials from the forest department.
Bora also undertook a safari of the park on jeep and elephant back along with other tourists, both domestic and international.
Today 10-11 elephants have been engaged at Kohora and 35 elephants at Bagori Forest Range for elephant safari,” Sonali Ghosh said.
The national park was re-opened for tourists and visitors for the new tourist season from October 1 this year.
