Debutant Jamie Leweling’s goal shrtly after the hour mark helped Germany secure a quarterfinal place as one of the top two sides in Group A3.
Meanwhile, before the start of the match, Manuel Neuer, Thomas Muller, Toni Kroos and Ilkay Gundogan, who had retired from the German team, were given an emotional farewell.
