The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police intercepted a vehicle and seized 420 grams of heroin hidden inside the steering wheel column of the vehicle, officials informed on Thursday.
The STF apprehended two drug peddlers connected with the case in Assam’s Kamrup district on Thursday morning.
The apprehended persons were identified as Kabel Uddin (33) and Sabur Ali (52).
Pranab Jyoti Goswami, the chief public relations officer of Assam Police, informed that acting on a specific intelligence input about the movement of narcotics, the Special Task Force carried out an operation in the Boko area of Kamrup district on Thursday morning.
“The operation was led by Additional Superintendent of Police Kalyan Pathak. During the operation, the STF team intercepted a vehicle and recovered 30 packets of heroin weighing about 420 grams. The contraband was hidden inside the steering wheel column of the vehicle. The STF team apprehended two carriers and handed over the contraband and the vehicle to Boko Police for necessary legal action.”
