Sambhu Kahar alias Shill who was arrested for allegedly killing a retired engineer of Kokrajhar district of Assam on November 29, was injured in a police firing while he was trying to flee from their custody.
As per inputs, Wednesday night at around 10 pm, Sambhu Kahar tried to escape from police custody, forcing police to fire a few rounds to prevent him from escaping.
During the firing Sambhu sustained bullet injury in one of his leg. He is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital and his condition is stable, said doctors.
On November 29, Sambhu Kahar, allegedly attacked Tapan Chakraborty, a retired engineer of Agriculture department of Assam and his wife Madhumita Banerjee with a sharp weapon in Bidan Palli area.
Tapan Chakraborty succumbed to his injuries on his way to hospital ,and his wife sustained major injuries in the attack.
Later, Kokrajhar Police arrested Sambhu from Koochbehar town in West Bengal.
Hailing from Koochbehar town, Sambhu resided in Kokrajhar for a long time as a wage earner.
