Guwahati: The Assam police have tasted major success in its crusade against the drugs mafia in the state.
Heroin, weighing 1.12 kilograms, was seized by the officials of Assam police from Sonapur near Guwahati city late on Saturday night.
The seized heroin has been estimated to be worth over Rs 7 crore in international markets.
The drugs were seized from a Tata Bolero car near the Sonapur Toll Gate.
The heroin consignment (94 packets, each weighing 12 grams) was stuffed into different parts of the car, including the engine compartment, seats, tail lamps, etc.
