Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday paid tributes to the martyrs of the Kargil war, on Kargil Vijay Diwas.
The Indian armed forces defeated Pakistan on July 26, 1999. Since then, the day is celebrated as Kargil Vijay Diwas to rekindle the pride and valour of the soldiers who took part in Operation Vijay.
Taking to his Twitter CM Sarma wrote, “On the occasion of #KargilVijayDiwas, I paid my heartfelt tribute to the braveheart martyrs who went beyond the call of duty for securing integrity & sovereignty of nation. 1/2″
