GUWAHATI: On the completion of 60 days of the government the Assam cabinet has decided to introduce an independent department for the preservation and promotion of Indigenous Faith and Culture. Talking to reporters in Guwahati on Saturday, Assam chief minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that the department will be an independent body and will not be under any ministry.
“Assam has a number of tribes with their unique customs and rituals. In order to preserve and promote this rich heritage the cabinet has decided to form a new department for Indigenous Faith and Culture. We have requested the finance minister to allocate a substantial budget for the department.” said Himanta Biswa Sarma.
