GUWAHATI: After an incident of attack on an on-duty doctor in Hojai district of middle Assam, another doctor was assaulted by miscreants in Biswanath district on Wednesday.
Senior medical officer of Majuligarh Tea Estate Basanta Goswami was assaulted over enforcement of COVID-19 restrictions in the garden area, police told news agency PTI.
The assailants had escaped after the incident.
A massive manhunt was launched by the police to nab them and two of them were arrested on Thursday.
The arrested accused have been identified as Ajit Tanti and Sujit Tanti.
“Another attack on #frontlineworker yesterday at Biswanath Chariali! The victim, an elderly doctor this time. We have the main accused Ajit Tanti and Sujit Tanti in our custody within 24 hours. More will follow,” tweeted Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta.

Another person is absconding and efforts are on to nab him, the police said.
