GUWAHATI: Assam information and public relations minister Pijush Hazarika on Thursday announced that the monthly pension amount of journalist pension scheme will be increased to Rs 10, 000 from Rs 8,000 in the state.
Besides, he announced that governmentwill also provide one time financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakh to the next of kin of the journalists in case of untimely death of a journalist while performing his/her duties.

“This announcement was made by I & PR Minister Pijush Hazarika in a meeting held with various journalist associations of the state at his office conference room at Janata Bhawan today. The meeting was also attended by I & PR Secretary Neera Gogoi Sonowal, Director of Information & Public Relations Anupam Choudhury among others,” stated a press release issued by the directorate of information and public relations (DIPR) on Thursday.
