GUWAHATI: Assam cabinet on Wednesday decided to accord cabinet minister status to chief executive members (CEMs) of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KKAC) and North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (Dima Hasao).
“CEM BTR, CEM Karbi Anglong & CEM Dima Hasao will be accorded Cabinet Status,” tweeted chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma after the cabinet meeting.

Meanwhile, BTC CEM Pramod Boro welcomed the decision of the state cabinet.
“My heartiest thanks to Govt of Assam and Hon’ble CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for according Cabinet Minister Status to CEMs of BTC, KAAC and Dima Hasao Council,” Boro wrote on Facebook.
NCHAC CEM Debolal Garlosa also thanked chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and the state government.
“My heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam #DrHimantaBiswaSarma and his entire Cabinet Ministers, Govt. of Assam for taking visionary decision by officially according the Cabinet Status (pan Assam) to the CEMs’ of the the Sixth Schedule Autonomous Councils of Assam in their Cabinet Meeting. I hope this cabinet’s decision will further strenghten the values of Sixth Schedule Autonomous Councils of Assam,” wrote Garlosa.
