GUWAHATI: Assam director general of police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta thanked the people of Assam, police personnel, central armed police forces (CAPF), battalion personnel and home guards for ensuring a fair and peaceful Assam assembly elections.
Taking to Twitter, Mahanta writes, “Elections are over & I gather congratulations are in Order! 1st, CONGRATULATIONS to us, the people of Assam! We’ve all shown sensitivity and maturity by strictly adhering to ECI guidelines, and helped conclude the Elections with no untoward incident in the entire process.”

Mahanta also expressed his gratitude to all the political parties and their followers for adhering to the guidelines of Election Commission of India (ECI).
“Second, CONGRATULATIONS to all the Political Parties and their followers! Because despite fighting a hard electoral battle, you held your end of bargain to keep the Election free, fair and without any major law and order situation and above all followed every ECI guidelines,” DGP wrote.
