The driver of the car involved in the crash at the Vancouver Festival has been taken into custody
9 killed after car crashes into Vancouver Festival crowd: At least nine persons were killed while many others were injured after a man drove his car into a crowd in Canada’s Vancouver on Saturday night.
The car, an SUV, ploughed through the ‘Lapu Lapu’ party resulting in the casualties.
“We can confirm that nine people have died after a man drove through a crowd at last night’s Lapu Lapu Festival,” Vancouver Police said on ‘X’
“The driver is in custody,” a statement by Vancouver Police stated as reports indicated that the 30-year-old accused from Vancouver was known to the police and hence authorities are not treating the incident as an “act of terrorism.”
Another report stated that the driver “appears to be a 20-year-old Asian male and possibly mentally challenged in some way”.
Videos and images showed people tending to the injured lying on the street.
