5,325 Auxiliary Polling Stations to be set up for Assembly election in Assam: CEO

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Electoral Officer Nitin Khade has said that in view of the COVID-19 situation, 5,325 Auxiliary Polling Stations will be set up for the State Assembly Elections in the state.

Talking to news persons in Guwahati today, he said that total number of Polling Stations would be 33 thousand 530.

Mr. Khade said that all guidelines and COVID-19 protocols will be maintained during the polling.

AIR correspondent reports, Chief Electoral Officer Nitin Khade said, all steps are being taken to ensure free, fair and safe Assembly Polls in the state.

He asserted that all COVID protocols would be followed in every steps of election process.

Mr. Khade said that COVID-19 vaccination would be given to all concerned government personnel who would be engaged in election duties.

He also announced that Postal Ballot facility would be also available to COVID-19 positive patients, senior citizens above 80 years of age and persons with disabilities.

On security aspect, he said, so far 40 companies of Central Armed Police Forces have been deployed in area domination activities.

Special DGP L. R. Bishnoi has been appointed as the Nodal Officer of Police Training in the state. 

Assam will witness three-phase Assembly Polls beginning 27th of next month.
