30 BJP, Congress leaders join TMC in Tripura

Guwahati: In a major boost to the Trinamool Congress in Tripura, 30 BJP and Congress leaders, including a Youth Congress secretary, have joined the party in the presence of the West Bengal law minister Bratya Basu.

Apart from minister Basu, 4 other party MPs have also landed in the state this morning and 5 others are reaching Agartala late tonight.

According to Trinamool leaders, over 100 BJP and Congress leaders were supposed the join the party today but the party had to scale down the event as it was unable to secure police permission for such a large event.

Meanwhile, the BJP’s youth wing, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, held a protest rally and alleged that the opposition CPM and TMC are involved in a nexus and conspiracy against Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.

TMC MP Dr. Santanu Sen said the Biplab Deb government is trying to trample the voice of the TMC in Tripura.

However, BJP state president Dr. Manik Saha said his party is not worried about Trinamool. “TMC doesn’t have any rank and file in Tripura. Some overenthusiastic people have joined them but the net result will be zero.”
