GUWAHATI, Nov 27: In another shocking incident, a 19-year-old girl hailing from Assam was murdered, allegedly by her boyfriend, in a hotel in Bengaluru, reports said. The victim, identified as Maya Gogoi from Assam, had reportedly checked into the hotel in Bengaluru’s Indiranagar area along with her boyfriend, a youth named Aarav Hanoy from Kerala, on Nov 23.
Her body was discovered on Tuesday morning after hotel staff felt a stench emanating out of the hotel room. Her boyfriend had fled after killing the young woman by the time police arrived.
Police said the accused killed Maya and stayed with the body for a night before fleeying at around 8:30am yesterday.
“Hanoy brought a knife in his bag when he checked in. During their stay, he also ordered a nylon rope through Zepto, It appears he came prepared to commit murder,” Hindustan Times quoted DCP (East) D Devaraj as saying.
The accused is yet to be arrested and his phone, reports stated, is switched off.
Reports said that the two were reportedly dating each other for a few months.
Maya was staying in the Karnataka capital city with her sister and cousin and was a YouTuber besides working with a private firm in Bengaluru.
