PUBLISHED:

Guwahati: 10 people from Assam tested positive for COVID-19 in Delhi. Out of these, seven of them are troopers of 31st Battalion of  Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and other three are cancer patients from the state.

According to reports, seven out of the four CRPF Jawans have been identified as Kumud Kalita of Kamrup, Ranbir Limbu of Udalguri, Kuheswar Baruah of Tinsukia and  Debojit Baruah of Lakhimpur.

Meanwhile, Ikramul Hussain, a sub-inspector of the same battalion who hailed from Barpeta district died on Tuesday because of COVID-19.

The family members of Kumud Kalita and Ranbir Limbu alleged that they are not receiving adequate treatment in Delhi. The families of both the jawans appealed the Assam Government for the assistance to bring them back for the treatment in Assam.

“On 23rd April we received a chart where my brother’s name was included as one of the COVID-19 patients. It is disheartening to see that the kind of treatment the defence personal should receive are not receiving the same.  My brother has been serving the nation from last 14 years and this is not something we expected. I want the Assam Government to look into the matter and bring him back”, said one of the relatives of a CRPF Jawan.
