10 Assam Districts with highest COVID19 cases

GUWAHATI: The COVID19 infection rates have gone up in Assam in the past one week. Almost all the districts in the state are reporting of people getting affected by the disease and a certain number of people have died due to it.

On Sunday, the COVID19 infection rate had gone up from 3 per cent to 5.48 per cent. In two days, 14 people lost their lives due to COVID19 complications. In four days, 50 people have succumbed to the disease in Assam.

In Assam, a total of 33,674 tests were done on Sunday and 1844 people were found to be COVID19 positive. Kamrup (Metro) recorded the highest numbers with 791 cases and a total of over 6000 active cases on Sunday. 
In the past ten days a total of 6026 people tested COVID19 positive in Kamrup (Metro).

In second place is Kamrup District with 1032 COVID19 positive cases in the past ten days.

In third place is Dibrugarh District with 961 COVID19 positive cases in the past ten days.

Other seven districts in Assam that reported COVID19 positive cases in past ten days are as follows:
 Nagaon with 704 cases
 Sonitpur with 639 cases
 Barpeta with 468 cases
 Jorhat with 436 cases
 Tinsukia with 435 cases
 Cachar with 392 cases and
 Golaghat with 365 cases.
The COVID19 testing has been increased by the Assam health department and screening centres are working round the clock at railway stations and airports of Assam. A total of 1200 COVID19 tests were done and at the Assam-Bengal border in the past three days and 14 people were found to be infected.
