Zubeen Garg once again opposes the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016

Singing superstar Zubeen Garg has once again firmly opposed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. Attending a Bihu programme in Sonari, the singer even went on to say that one should tear up the proposed Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.

He also voiced against political parties like Congress and BJP on their stand regarding the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill issue. “I do not care Congress or BJP,” said Zubeen Garg. Earlier, in a video posted on popular social-networking website ‘facebook’ along with a strongly-worded message, the heartthrob of Assam termed the bill “a grave threat to the core of Indian Constitution”.

Meanwhile, the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, held its second-phase public hearing in Barak Valley on Tuesday, and took representations of groups, organizations and individuals from Karimganj and Hailakandi districts at Silchar. On the other hand, the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) witnessed massive reactions amid the hearing in Guwahati on Monday, while taking into account feedback from political parties, apolitical organizations, other groups and individuals over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, that seeks to allow migrants from certain minority communities living in Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan eligible for Indian citizenship.

Zubeen Garg also urged people to join hands and fight back the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. “We don’t want this bill,” said Zubeen.
