GUWAHATI, Dec 16: Celebrations turned into tragedy after a car returning from a marriage plunged into the Sessa river near Lahowal in Assam’s Dibrugarh district leaving one person dead while four others are undergoing treatment at the Assam Medical College Hospital (AMCH) in a critical condition.
The deceased has been identified as Ishan Gogoi.
The accident took place late Sunday night after the five occupants of the car were returning home from the groom’s house in Bokul with other members of the bride’s family.

The deceased hailed from Tamulikhat near Tengakhat in Dibrugarh district.
Family members of the deceased alleged that the accident took place since there were no signages to direct travelers to the bridge as a result of which the car veered off the road and fell into the river.
