A woman teacher of a top Mumbai school has been arrested by police for repeatedly carrying out sexual activities with a minor male student. The 40-year-old teacher allegedly committed the acts with the student at various locations, including five- star hotels, reports stated, adding that the matter became public after the victim, 16, a higher secondary student, informed his parents about the ordeal after the teacher sent her servant to the minor boy’s house requesting a meeting.
The accused teacher became attracted to her student during the school’s annual function in December 2023 and allegedly made her first sexual advance in January 2024, The Hindu reported.
The woman teacher, who is married and has two children, has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Juvenile Justice Act, media reports added.
Another female friend of the teacher, who is said to have helped her in convincing the young boy to have sexual relations with the teacher, has also been booked in the case.
She reportedly told the minor that sexual relations between aged women and teenagers were normal.
The Indian Express reported citing police sources that she persuaded the minor boy to meet the teacher, who then took him to an isolated place in her car and sexually assaulted him. The report further stated that the ordeal for the minor boy did not stop and the accused teacher took him to five-star hotels where she made him consume alcohol before sexually assaulting him.
The accused teacher also reportedly put the survivor on antidepressants after his mental health deteriorated.
She was presented before a POSCO court on Wednesday and was sent to one more day in police remand.
The accused teacher’s friend is, however, on the run with Mumbai Police launching a massive hunt to arrest her as well.
Police are also looking into the possibility of the teacher committing similar acts with other students.
