In a shocking incident, a woman was found dead in her rented house in Guwahati’s Lalung Gaon on Thursday evening.
According to sources, the deceased’s body was found inside a box.
The deceased woman was identified as Bakhanti Baishya.
As per the owner of the house, the stench was coming out from the room but the room was locked for three days.
Police reached the spot after locals were informed about the incident and sent the body to the hospital for post-mortem and also launched an investigation into the matter, diligently following leads and interviewing potential witnesses.
The family had reportedly moved into the rented space just last week, sources said.
Meanwhile, it has come to the fore that the husband of the woman is absconding along with their child.
It is suspected that the husband killed the deceased and fled.
Further investigation is underway.
