GUWAHATI: Assam has conducted more than 1 lakh COVID-19 tests so far, said health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday. Addressing a press meet in Guwahati Dr. Sarma stated that Assam has tested 1,04,083 samples for COVID-19 as of May 31. With this, Assam has bypassed Kerala in the number of COVID-19 tests conducted.
“Today we have achieved a milestone of conducting 1 lakh Corona tests. We are going to achieve 2 lakh tests either by June 12 or 14, but definitely before June 15,” said Dr. Sarma.
He also said that due to increasing capability of the State to test more samples, institutional quarantine period will be reduced from 7 days to 4 days from the month of June. However, that would not be implemented immediately.
