GUWAHATI: Taking a jibe at All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief and Dhubri MP Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, Jansankhya Samadhan Foundation (JSF) Northeast Chapter Chairman Sailendra Pandey on Friday said if Badruddin Ajmal calls on the people of Char areas for population control and makes internal efforts of raising awareness drives on birth control, then JSF NE will demand for ‘Padmi Shri’ or ‘Padma Bhushan’ for him on the next Republic Day of India.

“If Ajmal takes the initiative to stop the cultural aggression of the Miya Muslims from Bangladesh in Assam by appealing the people in Char areas to abandon Islam and accept ‘Ek Sharan Namdharma’, then I on behalf of JSF NE will demand ‘Padma Shri or ‘Padma Bhushan’ for MP Badruddin Ajmal and if needed, will also sit for an indefinite fasting for it,” Pandey stated in a press release.

“Although incidents of child marriage in the age group of 7-10 years are not prominent in the state, there are high incidences of marriage in the age groups of 14-16 among girls and 16-20 among boys. Incidents of such underage marriage are most common in Muslim-majority river sandbar (Char) areas,” it added.

It is noteworthy that AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal triggered controversies on several occasions for his alleged indifferences towards population control in the minority Muslim society.
