GUWAHATI: An errant mob set a forest department office on fire after a wild buffalo had killed a man in Biswanath district of middle Assam on Thursday.
The local people turned violent after a man identified as Jayanta Das was killed by a wild buffalo at Muttackgaon in Biswanath.
The angry villagers set the office of the Biswanath Wildlife Division of the Department of Environment and Forest on fire alleging inaction.
“The wild buffalo came to Biswanath Ghat at around 5 AM. The buffalo tried to attack so many people. We informed the forest department. But they did not send their forces. So, the buffalo attacked and killed Jayanta Das at Muttackgaon,” said a local man.
