Former Karnataka DGP OM Prakash was found dead at his residence in Bengaluru on Sunday afternoon
The wife of former Karnataka DGP Om Prakash has been detained after she allegedly stabbed her husband, a 1981 batch IPS officer, to death after first throwing chilli powder at him at their HSR Layout residence in Benguluru on Sunday, reports said.
The former top cop was also attacked with a glass bottle by his wife Pallavi who is said to be battling depression following family issues.
Police also detained the retired DGP’s daughter, Kriti, who was also in the house when her mother allegedly killed her father.
The former top cop’s son Karthikeya, who filed a police complaint, said that his mother and younger sister had been threatening to kill his father following which the retired DGP had moved to his sister’s (Karthikeya’s aunt) house.
He also said his sister Kriti had pressurised their father to return home two days ago. Reports stated that the son was not at home when Om Prakash and wife Pallavi quarreled in the afternoon after which she stabbed him to death.
Initial investigations, reports said, revealed the couple used to quarrel a lot over family and property disputes and Om Prakash’s wife had even visited a local police station in Bengaluru to file a complaint against her husband but her grievances, a Times of India report stated, was not taken seriously following which she staged a dharna outside the police station.
The report further stated that Pallavi was under treatment and taking medicines for schizophrenia.
Originally hailing from Champaran in Bihar, Om Prakash was a 1981-batch IPS officer who was appointed DGP of Karnataka on March 1, 2015, and headed the state police until his superannuation from service in March, 2017.
