GUWAHATI, Oct 13: Mumbai Police are trying to ascertain the exact motive behind the killing of NCP leader Baba Siddique who was shot dead by three assailants outside his MLA son Zeeshan Siddique’s office on Saturday night.
Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister and member of NCP’s Ajit Pawar faction, died after being shot by three gunmen at around 9:30 pm. He was declared dead at the Lilawati Hospital at 11:27 pm.
Two suspects, one from Uttar Pradesh and the second from Haryana, have been detained while the third is still on the run with reports indicating a strong link to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang into Siddique’s killing.
Siddique, a three-time MLA from Bandra West, was with the Congress for 48 years before quitting the party in February. He then joined Ajit Pawar’s NCP.
Zeeshan Siddique, his MLA son from Bandra East, was also expelled from the Congress in August.
