CRPF jawan Munir Ahmed dismissed from service for secretly marrying Pakistani woman: CRPF jawan Munir Ahmed is in a soup following his secret marriage to a Pakistani woman. The CRPF jawan’s secret marriage to the Pakistani woman came to light after India revoked visas of Pakistani nationals following the dastardly Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people, including 25 Hindu tourists, were killed.

Munir Ahmed, who had reportedly joined the CRPF in 2017, was dismissed from service as authorities felt by concealing his marriage to a Pakistani national, he has broken service rules and that his marriage to the Pakistani national is perceived as a threat to national security.

WHO IS MUNIR AHMED?

Munir Ahmed is a resident of Gharota in Jammu and had married Menal Khan, a Pakistani national hailing from Sialkot, on May 24, 2023.

The marriage, reports said, was solemnised by Muslim clerics through video conferencing.

Menal, The Times of India reported, had entered India through the Attari-Wagah border on February 28 on a short-term visa that expired on March 22.

She was sent for deportation as a result of the government of India’s directives following the Pahalgam terror attack, the report further stated. She, according to the ToI report, got a repreive after the Jammu and Kashmir High Court intervened on April 29 and gave her a 10-day stay.

CRPF ISSUES STATEMENT

The CRPF, reports stated, has issued a statement on the entire issue.

“In a matter of serious concern, CT/GD Munir Ahmed of 41 Battalion of CRPF has been dismissed from service with immediate effect for concealing his marriage to a Pakistani national and knowingly harbouring her beyond the validity of her visa. His actions were found to be in violation of service conduct and detrimental to national security,” Hindistan Times quoted CRPF as stating in a statement.

MUNIR REFUTES CLAIMS

Munir Ahmed, meanwhile, refuted claims made by CRPF authorities that he did not inform them about his marriage to Menal.

The paramilitary trooper has said that he had informed the force of his intention to marry Pakistani national Menal in December 2022 and had received a formal approval from the CRPF headquarters on April 30, 2023, The Times of India reported.

Munir Ahmed further stated that he had submitted all necessary documents, including marriage certificates, and also applied for a long-term visa in March after his wife’s arrival in India on a short-term visa.

‘ALLOW US TO STAY TOGETHER’

Menal Khan, meanwhile, has urged the government of India to allow her to stay with her husband and his family.

“We condemn the barbaric killings of innocent people in the attack. They perpetrators should be punished severely,” she stated condemning the terror attack but said that she should be allowed to stay back with her husnabd and his family.

“We should be allowed to stay with the family,” news agency PTI had quoted Menal Khan as saying.
