GUWAHATI: “We have noticed that fundamental forces are on rise in nook and corner of the country.  Fundamentalists from Saheen Bagh are speaking against constitution and cultural heritage of India. We will fight against such fundamental forces,” said Assam health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today at Republic Day programme organised by Nagaon district administration.

Referring to controversial statement of Shaheen Bagh protest mastermind and former JNU student Sharjeel Imam to cut off Assam from the rest of India, minister Sarma said that such remarks would not be tolerated.

“We have taken pledge that we will never bow down to fundamental forces. Our government will punish those fundamentalists of Shaheen Bagh who want to cut off Assam from India,” Dr. Sarma stated.

The senior BJP leader also reiterated government’s commitment to punish the culprits behind violence spree in Guwahati during recent Anti-CAA protests.

In his speech, Dr. Sarma mentioned several developmental and social welfare schemes BJP-led government has undertaken for the people of Assam.
