War on drugs continues: Kamrup Police recovers drugs worth Rs 1.5 crore from North Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Assam Police has been carrying out continuous crackdowns on illegal drug trade in the state. As a part of its war on drugs, Kamrup Police on Thursday recovered heoin worth Rs 1.5 crore from a gas tanker at North Guwahati.

Police also arrested two persons from the tanker. Both of them hail from Manipur.

The operation at North Guwahati LPG bottling plant was led by DIG Partha Sarathi Mahanta, Kamrup SP Hitesh Chandra Ray, DSP Kalyan Pathak and North Guwahati police station officer in charge Dimpul Goyari.

The tanker reached Guwahati from Manipur via Dimapur.

Meanwhile, Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma congratulated police for the successful operation.
