Assamese film ‘Village Rockstars’, directed by Rima Das, has pipped several big-budget Bollywood movies of the likes of Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed ‘Padmavaat’ and Alia Bhatt-starrer ‘Raazi’ to be named India’s official entry to the Oscars 2019. The Film Federation of India (FFI) Saturday announced ‘Village Rockstars’ that had also bagged the Best Feature Film award at the 65th National Film Awards as the country’s official entry to the 91st Academy awards.

Rima Das had also won the national award for editing while child actor Bhanita Das, who played the role of 10-year-old Dhunu in the movie, was awarded the Best Child Actor award.
FFI picked ‘Village Rockstars’ from the likes of blockbuster movies like ‘Raazi’, ‘Padmaavat’, ‘Hichki’, ‘Mahanati’, ‘Pihu’, ‘Padman’ etc.
