Veerangana Sati Sadhani statue unveiled at Lakhimpur

GUWAHATI: The statue of Veerangana Sati Sadhani at Lakhimpur in Assam was unveiled on Tuesday by Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. People in hundreds gathered to attend the inauguration ceremony.

“Situated at the Soraimuriya bypass in Lakhimpur this statue will keep shining always and people will feel proud remembering the great Veerangana Sati Sadhani of the Chutia dynasty,” said a local resident.

“দেশপ্ৰেম-সাহসৰে মহীয়ান বীৰাংগনা সতী সাধনীৰ সদৌ লক্ষীমপুৰ জিলা চুতীয়া ছাত্ৰ সন্থাৰ উদ্যোগত নিৰ্মিত প্ৰতিমূৰ্তি আজি লক্ষীমপুৰত উন্মোচন কৰি অতিকৈ আনন্দিত হৈছো ৷ অনুষ্ঠানত সাংসদদ্বয় শ্ৰী প্ৰদান বৰুৱা, শ্ৰী পল্লৱলোচন দাস, বিধায়ক শ্ৰী উৎপল দত্ত, সমাজকৰ্মী শ্ৰী মানৱ ডেকা উপস্থিত আছিল,” Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Tweeted.

Sati Sadhani was the last queen of the Chutia dynasty. She was the daughter of the Chutia King Dharmadhwajpal also known as Dhirnarayan. Born in Sadiya, she was married to Nityapal or Nitai.

It is to be mentioned that every year in Assam, 21 April is celebrated as Sati Sadhani Divas to honor the sacrifices made by the Chutia Queen.
