GUWAHATI, Feb 6: After beginning his move to deport illegal migrants following his announcement to send back all aliens from the US, President Donald Trump Wednesday signed an executive order banning transgender athletes from competing in girls’ and women’s sports.
The “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” order grants federal agencies the authority to enforce Title IX, requiring federally funded entities to adhere to the Trump administration’s interpretation of “sex” as the gender assigned at birth.
“With this executive order, the war on women’s sports is over,” Trump said.
The order coincided with National Girls and Women in Sports Day and is the latest in a series of executive actions by the American president targeting transgender rights.
