Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma once again has reportedly received a threat for allegedly torturing pro-Khalistani supporters lodged in Dibrugarh jail in the form of an audio message from the banned Khalistani outfit Sikhs for Justice.
The voice in the message claimed that it was from Gurpatwan Singh Pannu, General Counsel of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), an organisation which allegedly engages in separatist activities against India.
The caller, who identified himself as a supporter of pro-Khalistani separatist leader Amritpal Singh, said:” Chief Minister Sarma, Amritpal Singh and his associates are on a hunger strike in Dibrugarh jail. Order shifting of Amritpal and his associates to Amritsar jail or face the consequences. Sikhs for Justice are filing a complaint in the United Nation against India and you will face the consequences. If any of the Singhs in Dibrugarh jail attains Shahidi, CM Sarma you will face the consequences. And pro-Khalistan sikhs take their enemies to the grave. Remember order shifting Amritpal Singh and his 9 associates from Dibrugarh to Amritsar jail or face the consequences. Message is from Gurpatwan Singh Pannu, General Counsel of Sikhs for Justice (sic).”
When asked about the threat call to CM Sarma, he displayed resolve questioning the fear surrounding Khalistani intimidation. “Khalistanis are threatening me, and you are getting afraid,” Sarma said in a statement to reporters.
This is not first time the Pro-khalistani has issued a threat on CM Sarma.
Earlier on April, 2023 around a dozen journalists in Assam received a recorded voice call, which issued a warning to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for allegedly torturing pro-Khalistani supporters lodged in Dibrugarh jail.
Amritpal was arrested for alleged attempt to murder and other charges in April last year and is lodged in a special cell in the Dibrugarh jail in Assam. In his message, Pannun, who is also a designated terrorist, is telling people how to release Amritpal.
