GUWAHATI, May 23: Mayur Hazarika of Assam etched his name in golden letters by bagging the 5th position in the UPSC Final results that were declared today. Mayur, a Nodal Officer employed with NHM Assam, brought laurels to his family and the home state by bagging the fifth position in what is believed to be the toughest competitive examination in the country.

“It’s almost a surreal feeling. I had hoped to crack the UPSC examination but getting the fifth rank was beyond any stretch of my imagination. I am on top of the world,” Mayur told News Live.

“I did self-study since I was working while preparing for the UPSC. Although I did not take up any full-fledged coaching for the examination, I had enrolled for an online course,” Mayur added, as a steady stream of relatives, well-wishers and friends arrived at their home in Nagaon to congratulate him on his stupendous achievement.
