GUWAHATI, Dec 8: Union DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and DoNER Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar walked the ramp during a fashion at the Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav at Bharat Mandapam, in New Delhi.
The two Union ministers were seen wearing trendy casuals and jackets focusing on the Northeast and walking the ramp to promote the unique handloom and handicrafts of the region which is in display at the three-day event.
The special fashion show highlighted the fusion of contemporary design with traditional textiles, showcasing Muga silk gowns and Eri silk stoles. Top designers from the region collaborated with local artisans in creating stunning ensembles.
Earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the event aimed at showcasing the region’s textile industry, artisanal crafts, and unique geographical indication (GI) products.
Along with other participants, Pride East Entertainments Pvt. Ltd. CMD Riniki Bhuyan Sharma and Golden Threads of Assam, a visionary step she took to take Assam’s pristine Muga silk to a bigger and global world, are also taking part in the three day-event which will culminate today (Dec 8).
She also proudly presented the beautiful craftsmanship of our Muga artisans before Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the inaugural function of the Mahotsav.
The festival is also offering an array of musical performances and indigenous culinary showcases, showcasing the region’s rich cultural diversity.
