The political fervour in Assam is set to escalate as Union Home Minister Amit Shah gears up to spearhead the Lok Sabha election campaign in the state.
Shah is slated to reach Guwahati on April 9 and his schedule is full of meetings and rallies meant to support the chances of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates in different constituencies.
Shah is scheduled to attend a campaign gathering for Dibrugarh seat candidate and Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, as soon as he arrives in the state.
This will be followed by successive campaign events rallying behind candidates from Sonitpur and Lakhimpur constituencies, Ranjit Dutta and Pradan Barua respectively.
The following day, the Union Home Minister is slated to headline a rally in Tinsukia, further drumming up support for the BJP ahead of the upcoming polls.
Notably, Shah’s earlier visit to Assam, initially planned for April 7 and 8, was cancelled, prompting a reshuffle in the campaign scheduled.
Originally scheduled to speak at rallies in Gohpur, Lakhimpur, and Hojai, the agenda has been changed to emphasise on April 9 boosting support for BJP candidates through focused campaigning.
