Under-fire YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia had made controversial and obscene remarks at fellow YouTuber Samay Raina’s online show India’s Got Latent
GUWAHATI, March 7: Under-fire YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, who made some controversial and highly obscene remarks in YouTuber Sameer Allahbadia’s online show ‘India’s Got Latent‘ appeared before Guwahati Crime Branch in connection with the case registered against him and four others — Samay Raina, Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh and Apoorva Makhija — by Guwahati Police over the ‘obscene’ remarks.
Ranveer Allahbadia, who is also famous as BeerBiceps, arrived at the crime branch office in Guwahati amid tight security and is presently being interrogated by crime branch sleuths.
Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma had earlier taken to ‘X’, formerly Twitter, stating that Guwahati Crime Branch has registered the case and that investigation were currently underway.
Guwahati Joint Commissioner of Police Ankur Jain had also said that “strictest measures possible” would be taken.
Mumbai Police has also started investigations against Allahabadia and visited the studio in Mumbai’s Khar where the show was shot after another police complaint was lodged against the YouTuber.
Allahbadia, who was attending Samay Raina’s show that had also brought together guest judges YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, comedian Jaspreet Singh and content creator Apoorva Mukhija, made the shocking and vulgar comments that led to a nationwide outrage with police cases also slapped on him and the other participants of the show in other parts of the country.
Journalist and storyteller Neelesh Mishra had also taken offence to the comments under-fire YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia made at the online show ‘India’s Got Latent’.
“Meet the perverted creators who are shaping our country’s creative economy. I am sure each one has a following of millions. This content is not designated as adult content — it can be seen with ease even by a child if the algorithm takes him or her there. The creators or the platform have zero sense of responsibility.
I am also not surprised at all that four people at the desk — and lots in the audience — celebrated this and had a great laugh. You, the audience, normalised and celebrated this and people like these. Decency is not incentivised in India — by platforms or audiences — and creators are stooping lower and lower for audience reach and revenue. Banal, crass, insensitive are words only for boring uncool people. These creators can say anything in the name of freedom of speech and get away with it. Again, meet the creators who are shaping our country’s creative economy,” he wrote on ‘X’.
Ranveer Allahbadia had later posted an apology saying “I shouldn’t have said what I said on India’s got latent. I’m sorry”.
