Guwahati: Assam Finance, Health and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that he has not decided on whether he will contest the 2021 Assam Assembly polls or not.
Addressing mediapersons in Guwahati Dr. Sarma said, “There are so many speculations going on about me contesting the 2021 assembly polls. But to be honest I haven’t thought about it yet. I just want to work for the people of Assam. And for now, my only motto is to complete all the pending works till March and only after that I want to think about the elections.”
Dr. Sarma also added, “Who knows if I will contest the 2021 assembly polls. This has to be decided by my family and party. So I am not here for a particular post, rather I want to work selflessly for my people.”
“The 3.30 crore people of Assam have the capacity to become doctors, engineers as well as the state’s CM. However, it is only with God’s blessing and some luck one can be the chief minister. We can’t decide who is going to be the next CM through a press meet or any other kind of debates,” said Himanta Biswa Sarma.
It is to be mentioned that a recent debate has started in Assam as who will be the next chief minister. A few days ago Minister of State for Health, Pijush Hazarika, a close aide of Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Dr. Sarma has all the capabilities to become a chief minister.
