Police have failed to make much headway in their probe into the Ugratara temple theft as more than 48 hours have elapsed since four thieves decamped with the main idol, gold ornaments, donation box and some utensils of the temple in the wee hours of Friday.
Police officers of the special branch picked up three persons, including one named Jamaluddin, for questioning in connection with the theft. The trio was questioned at Latasil police station although it is not exactly known whether they were involved in the theft.

Meanwhile, Ugratara temple management along with devotees expressed disappointment at thieves still being on the run besides non-recovery of the idol.
CCTV footage had showed four persons entering the temple early Friday around 3-3:30 am, breaking open the temple grill and whisking away with the idol, gold jewellery, the donation box and utensils.
