Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool sailed into the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League to join Barcelona and Amsterdam Ajay in the last-four stage of the competition.
Spurs eliminated Manchester City on away goal rule although the blues won the second leg at The Etihad 4-3 (4-4 aggregate). The match turned into a goal fest with seven goals scored, five of them scored within 20 minutes of the match.
Raheem Sterling scored a brace while Bernardo Silva and Sergio Aguero netted one each for City.
On the other hand, Heung-Min Son, adjudged Man of the Match for his clinical performance, scored two for Tottenham and it was Llorento’s strike that sealed the match for the London club.
Liverpool defeated FC Porto 4-1 in the second leg of their quarter-final tie in Portugal to sail into the semi-finals with a 6-1 aggregate.
Sadio Mane, Salah, Firmino and Virgil Van Dijk netted for the Premier League leaders.
Spurs will face Ajax while Barcelona, who outclassed Manchester United in the quarterfinals, will clash with Liverpool in the semis.
The first legs of the semi-finals will played on April 30 and May 1 while the return fixtures will be held the following week.
The final, on June 1, will be played at the Wanda Metropolitano Arena – Atletico Madrid’s home ground.
