GUWAHATI, Feb 17: People of North India woke up to not just one but two tremors triggering fear and panic among people.
The first quake measuring 4.0 in the Richter Scale shook Delhi NCR and nearby areas at 5:36 am, with its epicentre located at Dhaula Kuan.
No immediate loss of life or damages to property was reported.
The strong tremor, however, woke people up from their sleep as many residents were seen running out of their houses in fear and panic.
On the other hand, another earthquake also measuring 4.0 hit Siwan district in Bihar at 8.02 am, the National Centre for Seismology stated.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked people to “stay calm and follow safety precautions”.
“Tremors were felt in Delhi and nearby areas. Urging everyone to stay calm and follow safety precautions, staying alert for possible aftershocks. Authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation,” PM Modi wrote on ‘X’.
“We hope you all are safe, Delhi! For any emergency help, dial 112,” Delhi Police also wrote on ‘X’.
