Two persons, including a 10-year-old boy, were killed in two separate rain-induced incidents in Guwahati after heavy rains that lashed the Assam capital and its adjoining areas Friday evening.

The body of the minor boy named Nur Islam, a rag picker who fell into an overflowing drain in Rukminigaon locality of Guwahati Friday evening, was recovered by SDRF personnel today. The minor boy was collecting plastic bottles that were flowing in the water following the massive deluge when he accidentally fell into the drain.
On the other hand, another person died under tragic circumstances when a tree fell on him near the Army base hospital in Basistha. The deceased has been identified as Ghanashyam Pakowal. He was returning home from his workplace when the tree fell on him killing him on the spot.
