GUWAHATI, March 2: Two persons, including the owner of a restaurant, were arrested by Paltan Bazaar Police on charges of raping a 20-year-old student at a hotel in Guwahati.
Paltan Bazaar Police arrested Chandan Mahant, owner of a restaurant named Grill Junction located in ABC locality of the city, along with Rohan Ali, an employee of the restaurant, at Rajgarh Road’s Hotel Rashmi.
The duo was arrested based on a police complaint lodged by the victim at Paltan Bazaar Police Station.
The victim alleged in her police complaint that she was raped by the duo on the night of February 25 after they took him to the hotel and made her drink alcohol.
A female friend of the victim, who was also with them, escaped from meeting a similar fate.
Police investigation in the case is underway.
