Guwahati: Two drones have now been spotted near Kaluchak military station after the blasts at Jammu’s Air Force Station.
The incident took place last night at 10 p.m. and 3 a.m.
The army is already on alert after Sunday and the drones were fired upon immediately after they appeared, after which the two drones disappeared.
The army issued a statement saying that an immediate alert was sounded after two separate incidents of drone sightings came into light. In retaliation, the QRT (Quick Reaction Team) of the India Army open fired on the drones after which the drones disappeared in the air.
Security forces are now on high alert and a search operation is being carried out in the area.
The Army is also trying to find out the source of these drones. The drones are believed to have been sent as part of a plot to attack the military station after the Air Force Station.
Jammu’s only Airforce station was targeted with a drone on Saturday night, though the two blasts did not cause much damage.
Security agencies, including the NIA team, are investigating the blasts but their terror attack is yet to be confirmed. The act is believed to have been carried out from across the border.
According to sources, the terrorists wanted to target an Air Force helicopter at the air station but missed their target. If the Air Force properties had been damaged, it could have been considered a major attack. The drones were launched from a few kilometres from the Air Force Station.
Military bases have been put on alert over fears of a drone strike. Apart from Jammu, a strict vigil is being carried out around important military bases in Pathankot.
The Pathankot airbase was attacked by a terrorist five years ago.
Security agencies are on high alert after two drones loaded with explosives were found at the highly guarded Jammu Air Force station. Security has been beefed up at the base of all border districts.
