GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said population control norms would be implemented in chosen schemes of the government of Assam. Sarma said the norms would not be applicable in all the schemes.
“We can’t implement two-child norms in free admission of children to schools or Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. But if we start a CM Awas Yojana, then this point may be applied,” the chief minister said.
Dr Sarma said during his interaction with Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, the AIUDF chief also welcomed the government’s onus on women education.
