Travel route of American Tourist detected with COVID-19 in Bhutan

Guwahati: Government authorities in Assam on Friday initiated steps to find details of the travel itinerary of the American citizen who tested positive for Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Bhutan.

ENTRY INTO INDIA

  • The 76-year-old US tourist had come to India on February 21 with his 59-year-old partner from the USA.
  • His first stop was at Mumbai and on February 22 he travelled to Kolkata from Mumbai.
  • After reaching Kolkata he started his journey from Kolkata to Jorhat on February 23.

ENTRY INTO ASSAM

  • After reaching Jorhat from Kolkata on February 23 he and his partner started for Majuli on the same day.
  • On February 26 the duo reached Kaziranga. They halted a few days in Kaziranga.
  • On March 1 they reached Guwahati. They stopped for a day in Guwahati at Radisson Blu hotel for the night.

ENTRY INTO BHUTAN

On March 2, the US citizen and his travel partner started their journey from Guwahati to Bhutan. They entered Bhutan from Paro International Airport, after embarking Drukair flight KB241 from Guwahati Airport (LGBI) in Assam on March 2.

The US tourist had also spent a few days in Assam and took on a weeklong Brahmaputra river cruise on board the MV Mahabaahu, before leaving for Bhutan.

The 76-year-old tourist was tested positive after being kept under observation at a flu clinic in Bhutan designated for COVID-19 patients.
