Assam Police have released the sketch of a person who, cops say, is the prime suspect in the shocking murder of a young and meritorious college student, whose body was recovered from the toilet of the Dibrugarh-Rangia Express at Simaluguri railway station on Tuesday.
The drawing of the suspect was made by noted sketch artist Debasish Banerjee according to inputs provided by the mother of the deceased student.
Incidentally, the body of a woman believed to be in her fifties was recovered in the toilet of a wagon of the Avadh Assam Express at Mariani railway station twenty-four hours after Radha’s murder.
Meanwhile, Police have arrested one person in connection with the twin murder case from Tinsukia, minutes after the sketch was made besides picking up another person from Dibrugarh for questioning.
On the other hand, police said the twin murder could be the handiwork of a single person who, possible, had support considering the modus operandi and piecing together clues recovered during investigation. Similar views were also echoed by the sketch artist.
“The modus operandi in both cases appears similar. Gamosa-like clothes were used to strangulate both victims. Even the knots tied using the piece of cloth on the necks of the two victims are similar,” ASP and SIT in-charge Bolin Deuri told News Live.
Meanwhile, the victim’s mother who was helping the sketch artist prepare the drawing of the suspect claimed the sketch looked cent per cent similar to the person she saw in the coach where her daughter was murdered.
“It’s the same person I saw in the railway station. He must have killed my daughter. I want justice,” the grief-stricken mother said.
