In a massive twist to the twin train murders, Bikash Das, earlier arrested from Tinsukia by police, had raped the two victims before strangulating them to death. Bikash alias Bubu confessed to the crime during interrogation and admitted to have sexually assaulted the young college girl and the fifty-something woman with the help of another accomplice who is currently absconding.

“He had first raped the college student along with the help of his accomplice on Tuesday and then strangulated the victim in the toilet of the coach for physically-able passengers using a gamosa. Incidentally, police said Bikash had a criminal past and was a pervert and a hardcore criminal who was planning to commit a third crime before he landed up in police net after the sketch was prepared earlier today.
“He had bought another gamosa and was planning to commit a third crime similar to the ones he committed in the past two days,” Meena added.

Police are on the lookout of the second accused who stays in Tinsukia but hails from Bihar.
